Athenagoras Medallion Presentation

On Sunday, January 20th, 2013, Choir Director, Renée Root, was presented with the prestigious Patriarch Athenagoras Medallion, an award given by the National Forum and presented yearly to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to church music in their Metropolises.  Originally, it was to be presented at the November 2012 Choir Conference of our Eastern Federation of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians in Toms River, NJ, but was cancelled due to the damage caused by hurricane Sandy. Our choir was joined by the National Forum Chairman, Maria Keritsis, members of the EFGOCM Executive Board, members of the Choirs of Annunciation (Norfolk), Saints Constantine and Helen (Richmond), and St. Katherine (Falls church). Also present was Chrysostomos Gilbert who served as celebrant with Fr. George Chioros.
